Just in time for Tube 2016, AICON 3D Systems launches a new version of the software platform BendingStudio. BendingStudio 3.0 offers many new features, which facilitate daily work in bending production. The software platform connects all data and processes around production of bended parts: from production and process planning to manufacturing and quality control. It is the only tool to meet and combine these requirements with emphasis on metrological processes.
With the revised control concept, AICON reacts to customer requirements. The software is even clearer structured and easier to handle. The set-up of inspection plans is separated from the measurements. The big advantage: The user sees only the information relevant for his task.
The new CAD-WIZARD enables the user to create bending elements for a bending machine from a component’s CAD data in IGES or STEP. Even complex data files can now be processed, and bending data are easily and reliably extracted. Even newcomers can handle this new function: The wizard guides the user through the process step by step. The set-up of new parts is integrated into the application “part editor”. This new arrangement optimizes measurement and analysis.
Besides the structural novelties, BendingStudio 3.0 offers extended measurement options. The connected measuring device, like AICON’s TubeInspect or MoveInspect, provides the measurement data, and BendingStudio carries out the analysis of the measured pipe. A wizard guides the user through the single steps of the bending point model. Usually, the analysis is automated. However, the user can step in when needed. Manual intervention is more transparent and graphically supported. In Reverse Engineering, different bending radii can easily be taken account of.
Furthermore, BendingStudio offers new options especially for very long and complex pipes with many bending points (e.g. long brake pipes). They can be measured with TubeInspect by overlapping repositioning section by section. The partial measurements are then combined. The user can either delete measurements or change the parameters of the analysis afterwards. If the overall measurement is not successful, new single measurements are added, defective measurements deleted or single measurements re-evaluated with changed parameters. This is especially useful if the part cannot be measured in a single step. It allows for an even more effective workflow, as the part does not have to be completely re-measured.
The data service was improved. The software’s key feature forms the basis for interconnected working areas. Stored content can be used by several operators and is applicable across locations.
Holders of appropriate licenses and a valid software maintenance contract will receive the new BendingStudio 3.0 with the next software update.
AICON 3D Systems exhibit at the Tube Show: hall 5, stand E33. We are looking forward to your visit!
AICON 3D Systems is one of the world leading providers of optical camera-based 3D measuring systems. The company, founded in 1990, develops and distributes portable coordinate measuring machines for the business areas of inspection and testing including car safety and tube and wire inspection, as well as optical 3D scanners for the measurement of complex surface structures. AICON's reference list boasts renowned automotive manufacturers and suppliers, companies from the aerospace industry, and the areas of shipbuilding and renewable energies. P8 was just the beginning! One year ago, the new generation tube and wire measurement was launched, the TubeInspect P-series. A milestone in 20-year-old system history. Now, AICON 3D Systems from Braunschweig introduces the second model of the series: the TubeInspect P16. The follow-up of the successful TubeInspect basic model sets new standards in the measurement of midsize and long tubes and wires.
Equipped with 16 high-resolution cameras with GigE technology and a large measurement area (2,600 mm x 1,250 mm x 700 mm), TubeInspect P16 is suitable for tubes and wires up to 2,500 mm length. Measuring results are provided in less than 10 seconds. Tubes of up to 7 m length can be measured by repositioning in several steps. The measurement sections are linked automatically. In open position, the lateral doors serve as support desk.
TubeInspect P16 considerably optimizes manufacturing processes, e.g. the setup of bending machines, and significantly reduces costs through shortened setup times. When measuring large objects, e.g. long thin metal or plastic pipes, BendingStudio compensates deflections occurring due to the own weight of the pipe. Combined with the software platform BendingStudio, the system offers various new application-oriented functionalities.
TubeInspect P16 fulfills highest requirements regarding accuracy and speed. The long-life and low-maintenance LED technology guarantees a particularly smooth illumination of the measuring field, and enables an even more reliable measurement of tubes and wires of all materials. Complex bends are captured even more detailed which improves the repeat accuracy. The measuring field was further optimized: the panel of the reference field is now supplemented with additional glass elements as beams for the low-maintenance reference points, which do not have their own power supply and are more precisely measurable. The measurement accuracy for the determination of the sheath tolerance could now be increased up to 0.085 mm.
TubeInspect P16 replaces expensive mechanical gauges. It is applicable in production environment and insensitive to vibrations. The new narrow front edge allows for an ergonomically optimized insertion of measuring objects into the measuring cell.
