Polymeric coatings and protection for pipelines create a complex challenge for the steel pipe industry. From factory and in-situ coating procedures and machinery, to a trained and skilled workforce, coaters must also consider that the materials need to offer performance and longevity through extreme conditions while providing anti-corrosion properties, all the time conforming to local, national and global standards.

With the oil price recovering much of the ground lost towards the end of 2018, new exploration and production of O&G, the increase in popularity of shale and LNG and the requirement for improved pipe infrastructure, the industry will experience a future up-turn in production and projects.

2019 10 24 095939The Pipeline Coating conference is focused on polymeric coatings and their protection for offshore and onshore steel pipelines for the energy industries including oil, gas and water. Taking place from a central-European location (Vienna, Austria) the event offers a location for companies to attend from Europe, Asia-Pacific, NAFTA, MEA, CIS and South & Central American regions.

AMI has organised events in the oil & gas industry for the past 12 years and has built a strength and reputation for the delivery of these conferences. The programme has been selected by an Advisory Board, which includes expertise from AMI and external representatives who are all leaders in their field and bring their experience and knowledge. The Advisory Board includes: Houssam Al Din Sabry from ADNOC, Denis Melot from TOTAL, Michele L. Ostraat from ARAMCO SERVICES, Somaieh Salehpour from SHAWCOR, Jeffrey D. Rogozinski from SHERWIN-WILLIAMS, Thomas Stark from BOREALIS, Mike Surkein from SURKEIN CORROSION, Samuel J. Thomas from INDEPENDENT CONSULTANT (currently at Liberty Coatings), Philip D. Tooth from TOOTH PIPELINE SERVICES as well as David Buckby and Rebecca Utteridge, both AMI.

On the 11-13 February 2020, the event provides delegates the chance to participate in two days of technical and commercial conference presentations.

The conference will open looking at future prosperity including case examples of Indian pipeline construction from Borouge.

Challenging pipe environments pose a continual challenge to the industry and will be discussed in detail by Jabitherm, Shawcor, Tenaris, AkzoNobel and 3M. They will explore their latest developments for pre-insulated pipes, wet insulation, CUI and internal flow efficiency coatings.

The conference session for day 1, will close with case examples of how coatings fail when stockpiled. TC Energy and Charter Coatings will provide details on a study they undertook exploring field and laboratory assessments of UV degradation and system 1A and 2B FBE coated pipes.

Day 2 will explore new generation coatings and technologies. Speakers include Sherwin-Williams, Eckart Suisse, Seal for Life Industries, Pipeline Technique and the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology.

New for 2020:

  • AMI have partnered with YPP EU and will be presenting the first, Young Pipeline Professional Award.
  • The conference sessions will also see the new addition of an Operator & Contractor Clinic. Operators already confirmed include Saudi Aramco, ADNOC and Total

The event attracts operators & asset owners (Saudi Aramco, ADNOC, Total, TC Energy, ENI, Equinor and Qatar Petroleum have already confirmed their attendance), contractors and lay engineers, raw material suppliers, pipe coaters, specifiers, machinery suppliers, researchers and testing and certification organisations.

Pipeline Coating 2020 has been supported by Shawcor, returning as the headline sponsor, Sherwin-Williams, 3M, Borealis, Jotun, Tenaris, Akzo Nobel and Charter Coating. The event is supported by YPP EU and has media partners with Pipe & Profile Extrusion, World Pipelines, PCE and IPCM.Pipeline Coating 2020 takes place 11-13 February, at the Austria Trend Savoyen Hotel, Vienna, Austria.
